Does your dog drink water quickly and then vomit?
Usually, when our puppies drink water very quickly, they tend to drink a lot of water and vomit after that. That is because they can’t handle too much water in their stomach at one time.
This may not sound like too big of an issue, but it becomes a vicious cycle where your pup becomes dehydrated from throwing up, so they drink more water. And then, because they drank too quickly again, they threw up again, and so on.
If this continues to occur over and over, it will have harsh effects on their stomach, and then your dog is also losing essential nutrients and electrolytes that keep him or her healthy.
What is also happening when they gulp down water is that they accidentally inhale some.
Many people may have experienced this, and it’s not a good feeling. You can’t stop coughing because you inhaled something, and your lungs are desperately trying to get it out.
Watching a pup cough because it gulped water and inhaled a little is uncomfortable.
And it certainly isn’t any fun for the puppy.
In some cases, it can lead to a lung infection called aspiration pneumonia, which will require veterinary care.
But,
How Can I Get My Dog to Drink Water Slower?
Unfortunately, we can’t tell them to drink slower because they don’t understand us.
But we can give them a bowl that will stop them from drinking so fast.
For that reason, we created HydroPace, a slow-drinking water bowl.
These bowls are designed to regulate your furry friend’s water intake and to encourage them to drink water at a slow and steady pace.
The automatically adjustable floating disk design slows down the drinking speed of your furry baby. When your pup's tongue touches the floating disk, it sinks, and the water undulates.
It prevents them from drinking too much water too quickly and helps them to avoid vomiting and coughing.
